Fursuit Walk

A Walk in the City

The Fursuit Walk is traditionally an integral part of the events organised by Furdance Budapest, where participants, including fursuiters or furry fans without fursuits, meet up and stroll through the city together.

This is a great opportunity for members of the furry community to not only meet each other, but also to interact with pedestrians. The walk takes place in public spaces and anyone can join in without having to sign up or register.

Although no registration is required to participate, the same rules and guidelines apply as for walk participants.

Who are furries?

Furry is an art-centred fan community born out of a shared passion for anthropomorphic characters. This diverse community is made up of fans, artists, writers, gamers, role-players, basically members from every field of interest.

What they have in common is that they create their own unique anthropomorphised character that acts as their avatar within the community and is known as Fursona. As there are no strict criteria for belonging to the furry community, it is essentially a loose collection of many small, independent groups.

Who are fursuiters?

A fursuit is a custom-made anthropomorphic costume worn by a fursuiter. What distinguishes fursuits and fursuiters from cosplay and mascots is that they always represent and bring to life the wearer's own fursona or unique character.

Since fursuiters are the most visible representatives of the furry community, the furry community is often mistakenly identified exclusively with them.

How to interact with a fursuiter during the walk?

It's important to know that fursuiters' vision and hearing are often limited in their costumes, so wave at them and try to get their attention. Most fursuiters are happy to take photos, but try not to hold them up for too long.

Be careful with the fursuiters' costume during the interaction! Don't pull or tear it, be very careful and restrained. Always ask the wearer before touching a fursuiters costume.

The exact route of the Fursuit Walk will not be announced until the event is closer and the relevant authorities have approved and designated the route for us. Questions and Answers

Can I come without a fursuit?

Yes, we welcome anyone who would like to join us.

When will the walk take place?

The walk is expected to take place on Saturday, but this is subject to change. If you'd like to take part in the programme, keep an eye on our website for more information.

Who can use the Fursuiter Bus?

Only fursuiters with valid tickets who have registered as fursuiters and announced their participation in advance can board the Fursuiter Bus, which runs between the main venue of Furdance Budapest and the meeting points of the Fursuit Walk.
If you don't have a valid ticket, haven't registered your need in advance, aren't a fursuiter or don't have your fursuit with you, unfortunately we cannot offer you a seat.

How can I help Fursuiters?

There are many ways to help fursuiters during the walk. For example, you can arrange with a friend to spot for them. This means that you stay close to them, point out possible obstacles and help them communicate with their surroundings.
If you are thinking of more serious support, we welcome volunteers as official helpers on the Fursuit Walk so that together we can ensure pleasant and safe conditions for all participants.
Jump to the 'Contact us' page.

How do you ask for help as a fursuiter?

If you need help, the simplest method is to use hand signals. To get the helpers' attention, raise one hand and use the other to indicate what they can help you with.
You can learn the hand signals in the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMIXLED6LL0
